๐Ÿ“ PDF to Text Converter

Extract selectable PDF text into a downloadable TXT file. No OCR or upload.

Extract the text layer from a searchable PDF and save a plain-text file. Scanned or image-only PDF pages need OCR, which this tool does not provide.

This is text extraction, not OCR. An image-only scanned PDF may produce an empty result.

How to convert PDF to text

Upload a searchable PDF, press Extract text, then download a .txt file or copy the text. The tool extracts text from all pages and separates pages with a clear divider. It does not produce a Word file or try to reproduce complex page layouts.

When should I use PDF to TXT?

Extract notes from a digital handout, copy paragraphs from an accessible report, or create a plain-text reference for editing. If you cannot select words with your PDF viewer, your file probably contains scanned images and will require OCR instead.

Will the text match the original layout?

Not exactly. Text extraction follows the PDFโ€™s internal text positions, which may not match natural reading order for tables, columns, headers and footnotes. Check the resulting text for errors and missing passages.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool scan images?

No. It reads embedded, selectable text only; it does not run optical character recognition.

Can it extract from a scanned PDF?

Only if the scanned document already contains an OCR text layer.

Is formatting preserved?

The output is a plain .txt file. Font styling, embedded images and most layout are removed.
