🔢 Add Page Numbers to PDF
Number PDF pages with customizable placement and numbering style.
Start here
Choose where the number should appear and whether it should show as a plain number or as “1 / 8”. You can also change the starting number.
Numbers are added to every page. Leave enough margin if your PDF already has a header or footer.
How to add page numbers to a PDF
Upload the PDF, pick an edge or corner, choose a number format and starting value, then download the numbered document. For example, a 12-page report starting at 3 will show 3 through 14. With the “number / total” format, the suffix is the number of pages in this PDF.
When are page numbers useful?
Add them to presentation handouts, draft reports, internal manuals and meeting packs so readers can refer to a specific page. For documents with a pre-existing header or footer, select another position to avoid covering content.
Important limitations
Text is added as an overlay on top of the existing pages. We do not automatically detect existing footer content, and rotated or unusually sized pages may need a visual review. Basic Latin digits and English labels are supported.
